You may be aware that the Scottish Government has recently announced that landlords of residential properties may increase the rent received by up to 3%. This follows an extended period during which rents could not be increased due to the pandemic and more recently, the current surge in utility and other household bills. More information can be found via this link the Cost of Living (Tenant Protection) (Scotland) Act Regulations.
If you should wish to take advantage of this increase, there is an official way to inform your tenants of the impending rise. There is a 3-month rent rise notice period, plus an extra two (2) days for delivery (the form will guide you with this). Download the Government form and complete it.
